"Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of Me."
John 5:39
Tom came across this little nugget in his daily reading:
"These are the names of his [King David's] children which he had in Jerusalem; Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon..." (1 Chronicles 14:4)
When Tom looked at the meaning of these four Hebrew names, he saw a beautiful picture of salvation:
Shammua-"hearing" (Romans 10:17)
Shobab- "repenting" (Mark 6:12)
Natan- "He gives" (Ephesians 4:7)
Shlomo-"His peace" (John 14:27)
King David clearly understood that "the just shall live by faith" through the atoning work of Messiah, as Paul tells us in Romans 4:6-8
