Halloween Tract and Treat

Every year we look forward to October 31st.  Some celebrate it as Halloween, some celebrate it as Reformation Day.  We don't celebrate Halloween but as Christian witnesses in the world, we can't pass up this opportunity to hand out tracts (and candy) to the folks who come right to our door.  Because this is the gospel, we want to be generous and usually purchase the "expensive", popular treat-sized candy bars and put three in each bag.  For "filler" we use the cheaper candies so that each person who comes to the door gets a very full, snack-sized bag of treats plus a quality tract (typically a Chick comic book tract).  Living Waters  and Custom Tract Source are also a great places to get quality tracts for Halloween or any occasion.
When we used to live in the Chicagoland area, we would get 50-70 trick or treaters every year--and some of the teenagers would come back multiple times for more comic book tracts!  But last year in our new neighborhood, we barely received any trick or treaters--maybe 5.  I think perhaps all the children in our neighborhood go over to the "nicer" neighborhoods to trick or treat--what a disappointment!  But that didn't stop us.  We simply put all the remaining tract and treat baggies into door hanger bags (we always have plenty of those) and Tom and the boys went out and put them on doors the next morning.  Last year Halloween fell on a Saturday, so on Sunday morning most folks were home and a few even came to the door to take the bags and they were delighted to receive them.   We may end up doing the same thing again this year, who knows.
Below I've posted a "Two-Minute Evangelism Tip" video by Trish Ramos (see her "Fish With Trish" link to the right) with some suggestions on how to go about doing this.  You can order the I.Q. Test tracts seen in her video here.  By the way, the tape she uses in the video is called "Gentle Paper Tape" by Nexcare.
