As is tradition in our home, everyone awoke to a small treat at their breakfast place on the morning of Little Big Brother's birthday and he chose the menu for the day. For breakfast he chose something I hadn't made in many months--maybe a year--but is always a favorite at our house: German Apple Pancakes!
He wanted to help prepare them in the morning so I gave him the job of dusting them with cinnamon and raw sugar.
Fresh from the oven
Ready to eat!
The evening of his birthday we all went out to Outback restaurant per his request.
Preparations started early in the morning when Little Mama and I made the birthday cupcakes and mini cake. Though is doesn't look it in the pictures below, we made our oft requested chocolate sour cream cake with cream cheese frosting. Little Mama can be the most interesting little helper sometimes!
The table was set,
balloons inflated,
and the meal prepared.
There were games to play,
food to eat,
music to listen to,
and gifts to open!
After the gifts were opened a funny thing happened--
Captain Kirk showed up for the birthday speeches!
After speeches, the Captain enjoyed his cake and mingled with his guests.
The next day he wasted no time putting his Lego kit together!
Thanking the Lord for giving us this wonderful little boy for these eight wonderful years!
