Next stop was Papa and Nana's house where Papa opened his gifts and received Birthday Speeches. Little Big Brother quoted scripture from memory for Papa, and the rest of the speeches noted that Papa is a snappy dresser, kind and patient, and that he is loved because God made him.
Nana asked Asher to evaluate her dying tomato plant to see what he could do for it. He happily spent a little while working with it and added some bagged soil to the pot. It looked much better when we left and he was excited to show me the slug he found in Nana's bag of soil!
It was extra special that a longtime family friend (who lived next door to us growing up) was also visiting that day!
After the gifts and speeches we took everyone out to lunch in honor of Papa's birthday. All in all it was a wonderful day to honor Papa!
