Answers for Women Part 2 (Biblical Womanhood)

Next up at the Answers for Women Conference was Mary Mohler, wife of Dr. Al Mohler, President of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  Her topic was, Biblical Womanhood in an Eve-ized World, which focused on how Christian women can put the feminist agenda into biblical perspective.

She began by pointing out that the goal of feminism is gender neutralization when in truth God created us differently in order to complement one another.  Eve was created to be a helper to Adam (Genesis 2:18) but many Christian women today see that role as demeaning.  To highlight how important a role it truly is, Mrs. Mohler discussed how the Holy Spirit is referred to as a Helper in the scriptures (John 14:16-17, John 14:26, John 15:26, and John 16:7)--equal to the Father and Son but with a unique role.

As far as the husband having headship over the wife (Ephesians 5:23, 1 Corinthians 11:3), Mrs. Mohler had this to say:  "A body with no head is dead and a body with two heads is a freak.  Only one head can be over a body."

Our country can have only one President but this doesn't mean that the Vice President is chopped liver.  It simply means that if the economy tanks we all know who's going down in history as the big failure and with a burden that large he will need a helper.  And as helpers we should thank the Lord every day for this important and critical role.
